Tampa has much of what it takes to be a great city for walking and bicycling. There’s the great Florida weather, and there’s the 4.5-mile stretch of Bayshore Boulevard, one of the world’s longest continuous sidewalks. The City of Tampa in recent years has installed miles of bike lanes on our roads.

But much work remains to be done.

Success depends on organizations like Tampa General Hospital, which demonstrates a strong commitment to making our streets safe for walking and riding. TGH was one of the first companies in Tampa Bay to earn certification as a Bicycle Friendly Business through the League of American Cyclists, and recently participated in a Bike Safety Quiz, with the goal of helping the city of Tampa maintain its position as one of the country’s most Bicycle Friendly Communities.

TGH has earned accolades for its high level of care. U.S. News & World Report  recognized it was one of America’s Best Hospitals for 2020-2021 in five specialties. TGH has earned Magnet status — the highest recognition a hospital can receive for nursing excellence. And TGH is the only hospital in Tampa Bay — and one of only six in Florida — to make Newseek‘s World’s Best Hospitals 2021 list.

TGH is also a great community partner, and has advocated for sidewalk improvements and installations across the city, which still has more than 1,300 miles of roadways without sidewalks.

TGH knows: Walking and biking is good for business, the environment and our health.
Thanks to TGH for your support of Walk Bike Tampa and making Tampa streets safe for everyone!
