Mark your calendar! On September 20, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tampa joins over 2,000 cities in 46 countries in celebrating World Car Free Day. It’s our third annual celebration—and your chance to walk, bike, or scoot to one of our local activity hubs. Let’s explore the city together in a fun, active, and car-free way!
This year, the organizing committee has gone above and beyond to deliver an even more dynamic experience — including new activities, expanded programming, and an exciting new activation zone at the TGH Tampa Well Community Gardens in East Tampa. We can’t wait to share it with you!
Events in Westshore, Downtown, Ybor and East Tampa will include:

Did you know? You can ride your bike from Midtown Tampa to the Downtown Encore venue, and continue on to Ybor City—visiting all three original World Car Free Day locations—along bike-friendly routes! It’s just 5.5 miles using calm neighborhood streets and protected bike lanes like the Cass Street and Nuccio Parkway two-way cycle tracks.
Pro tip: Scan the QR code on the map to explore the full route on the Footpath platform, complete with every street and turn.
Even more good news: bike-friendly route to the TampaWell Community Gardens has also been mapped and it’s only 3.5 miles north of the Ybor – Centennial Park location. Look for signs shown below marking the route.
Pick a route, ride a short portion of it from your neighborhood or ride the entire length and discover how easy it is to connect with new neighborhoods.
2nd Annual Kidical Mass Bike Ride
Get the kids rolling! 
Join the 2nd Annual Kidical Mass Ride on September 20th! Register your family now—bring friends, neighbors, or rally their school class for some healthy competition!
Families and children will learn to navigate a short ride from Curtis Hixon Park to the Downtown Encore event venue using a protected two-way bike lanes on Cass Street. Â
